ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL is one of Japan's largest annual outdoor rock festivals, organized by the music magazine Rockin'On Japan. Established in 2000, the festival was traditionally held in early August at Hitachi Seaside Park in Hitachinaka, Ibaraki Prefecture. In recent years, it has been hosted at Soga Sports Park in Chiba City. The festival is known for its high production values, spacious outdoor setting, and strong sense of community, making it one of the most beloved music events in Japan. For many Japanese bands, performing at the festival—especially on its iconic GRASS STAGE—is considered a major milestone and a career-defining achievement. Over the years, numerous artists, including ONE OK ROCK, BUMP OF CHICKEN, RADWIMPS, and SEKAI NO OWARI, have used their appearances at the festival to solidify their national presence and connect with fans on a massive scale.
