RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL is one of Japan's most iconic outdoor music festivals, held annually every August in Ishikari, Hokkaido. Launched in 1999, it is organized by WESS Inc. and has become a defining event in Japan's summer music calendar. What makes RISING SUN unique is its all-night format, with live performances continuing into the early morning, allowing fans to literally watch the sun rise over the northern landscape—a symbolic and atmospheric climax to the event.

On August 11, 2012, ONE OK ROCK returned to the RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL in EZO, held once again in the coastal area of Ishikari, Hokkaido. By this time, the band had released their fifth studio album, Zankyō Reference, and were gaining international attention. Their setlist featured tracks that showcased their evolving sound and growing maturity as artists. Performing alongside acts such as ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION, BRAHMAN, and Maximum the Hormone, ONE OK ROCK's presence at the festival underscored their status as a leading force in Japan's rock landscape.
