SUMMER SONIC is one of Japan's largest and most internationally recognized annual music festivals, held each summer in Tokyo and Osaka (often simultaneously over two days). Founded in 2000, it features a wide-ranging lineup of international superstars, Japanese rock and pop acts, and cutting-edge emerging artists. SUMMER SONIC has hosted acts like Radiohead, Metallica, The 1975, Beyoncé, Green Day, and many of Japan's biggest names—including ONE OK ROCK, who have performed multiple times, earning main stage slots and international exposure.

Building on their previous year's performance, ONE OK ROCK returned to SUMMER SONIC in 2011, further establishing their presence in the Japanese rock festival circuit and reaching an even wider audience.
