More information

BLARE DOWN BARRIERS was a live music event series organized by Japanese rock band coldrain, aimed at showcasing the energy and diversity of Japan's alternative and loud rock scene. Launched in the late 2000s, it featured a mix of rising and established bands in intimate venues, particularly around Nagoya. The event became a symbol of underground unity and band-to-band collaboration.

ONE OK ROCK's appearance at BLARE DOWN BARRIERS 2011 on February 20, 2011, came during a transitional but explosive moment in their career. Just months earlier, in late 2010, they had headlined Budokan for the first time. Their inclusion in this Nagoya-based event—among a heavy lineup curated by coldrain—showed how deeply they remained connected to Japan's loud rock circuit, even as their popularity was quickly scaling beyond the underground. This was also just before the release of Zankyō Reference, which would push their sound in a more mature, post-hardcore-influenced direction.
