Zeitakubyō is the first full-length major debut album by ONE OK ROCK, released on November 21, 2007 (limited edition) and January 1, 2008. It followed the success of their major-label debut single Naihishinsho (April 25, 2007), which marked the band’s official entry into the professional music industry under Amuse and its label A-Sketch. As their first major release, Zeitakubyō represents a defining milestone — a raw, energetic, and ambitiously crafted work that introduced ONE OK ROCK’s unique musical identity to a wider audience.
The title "Zeitakubyō", which translates roughly to "Luxury Disease", reflects both the variety and excess packed into the album. According to the band, it carries a layered meaning: it’s "luxurious" in the sense that it spans multiple genres — from punk rock to emo to melodic ballads — and it’s so rich in sound and emotion that it might even make listeners feel overwhelmed, as if they’ve indulged too much.
This eclecticism is what makes Zeitakubyō stand out. Rather than sticking to a single formula, the album boldly experiments with tempo shifts, emotional tones, and dynamic arrangements. Taka’s intense vocals, paired with explosive guitar work and tight drumming, deliver songs that deal with youth, frustration, longing, and identity — themes that resonated with fans and helped ONE OK ROCK build a loyal following.
Notably, the album Luxury Disease, released in 2022, is a direct homage to this debut — translating the title and, in a sense, completing a full-circle moment in the band’s international journey, marking fifteen years since their major debut.
Zeitakubyō remains a fan favorite and an important introduction to ONE OK ROCK’s musical identity: emotionally charged, genre-blending, and unapologetically bold.
